I made this account just to post on here, I followed what vyzervyzer did and downloaded Vivaldi after almost a week of trying to get brave to work long enough to get my important bookmarks and information. Also using windows 7 and Vivaldi was able to import all bookmarks from brave without needing to open brave (since I can’t anyway), also one of the main reasons I used brave was it didn’t throttle your speeds with windows 7 like Firefox and Chrome do, but behold! Vivaldi does not throttle speeds on Win 7 either. If this post helps one other stubborn windows 7 user than it was worth creating the account
Does Vivaldi have ad blocking etc.
Can I move over my passwords too? Not just bookmarks.
Ad blocking yes but not on youtube so far but it says you can use chrome extensions. As far as passwords I’m not sure, I’m one of the oldschool crazies that writes down all passwords XD
If it’s still crashing after completing the above steps:
I personally tried those with no luck, then because I was able to export all my bookmarks I also uninstalled everything with revo uninstaller to make sure all was clear and tried to reinstall brave multiple times and the installer starts and says “On Your Marks” and then stops and says “No Update Is Available.”.
If you’ve made backups and want to start from scratch, make sure you delete the %localappdata%/BraveSoftware
folder if present. But then this seems to be an installer-related error, and is likely unrelated to the crash. Any reason you had to use a third-party uninstaller by the way?
Thank you, that worked! As far as a third-party uninstaller, why does anyone use third-party software for a basic windows function (Brave itself being a third-party software to replace Internet Explorer)? I read or watched a review of it and did my own research and liked it, as far as Revo to be specific, I believe I read about it on PCmag around 10 years ago and I personally think it does a great job at removing things a standard uninstall leaves. I think Brave does a great job at what it strives to do as well, especially replying to a forum for stubborn people using an operating system from almost 20 years ago. I’m back on brave, thank you!
