Brave isn‘t downloading Videos to the playlists anymore properly

When adding YouTube Videos to the playlist and trying to download them offline it doesn’t work, the Videos in the playlist also don’t even play, it always says there was an error and that it couldn’t load the Video.

How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. Dowloading Videos to the playlist

I‘m expecting the next update to fix this issue because I’m using this Browser to listen to music and I can‘t do that if the offline playlists aren’t working properly

Brave Version( check About Brave): 1.69.1

iPhone 13

Same here (Version 1.69.1 (171)). And btw, (I dont know if it is the additionall filters I have enabled, but youtube does not show the description anymore when brave is enabled.

(Should I open a new ticket for this (if at all)?)

Hello! Does it work in a Private Window?

Thanks

I am having the issue.

Steps:

  1. Add video to playlist
  2. Open playlist and tap on video for offline save
  3. Error as shown

Iphone 13
Ios 18 (i noticed this issue after upgrade to ios 18)

Do you see this issue on 1.69.2? Thanks!

Yes,
I just updated the app and still have the issue

Version 1.69.2 (172)

Update:
When I manually try to download it by clicking on the download button in my playlist when we swipe left. I get the storage full message even though i still have alot of storage in my iphone

Seems to work in a private tab fine. Although I still get the storage popup first even when I have plenty. This bug is on the latest version and the beta variation by the way.

Facing the same issue. The update to the latest version did not help, also using iphone 13, but mini and iOS 18.

I‘m having the same issue, please someone let me know when there’s a solution for it cause i only use brave for youtube/offline music:(

Having the same issue with Version 1.69.2 (172) and in iphone13 updated to ios18. Started since i made the updates. Still got space in memory. If i try in a private tab it works, it adds to playlist fine.

Same case here, version 1.69.2, iphone15pro

I tried with private browsing as suggested, it downloads only the videos added to the playlist during the private session. ->The video I added previously with normal browsing, is there, not downloaded, and poping up the error message, sorry there was a problem loading the resource.

After this, I tried going back to normal browsing and opening my playlist, I can reproduce the downloaded videos.

So for the meanwhile, I find that we can prepare for when we need the videos. when you have time, open a private session, login our youtube account to find the videos of interest, and download a bunch of them. Later, they work without the need of private session or logging in.

Another observation while trying to debug my case, I redownloaded twice, and in both cases, when I open the app the first thing I see is the welcome page where it asks Set Brave as Default Browser? and we have the buttons set default/Not now, none of them are responsive, its frozen, i need to close the app, open it again (1 or 2 times), and the crash pop up appears “brave closed unexpectedly”, which sets me free as now its reactive.

This is the same issue as the following previous issue :-

P.S. The workaround is using private mode

How do I use private mode? Im kinda lost😅

When you open the tabs view, you can see ‘private’ at the bottom left corner.

So private mode is the answer? Or is this going to get fixed I don’t want to enter private mode every time to have to download a video.

I have the same issue. Videos won’t play either in normal or private tabs. Version 1.69.2 (172) iOS 17.7

Summary

So I’ve looked around and saw that several tickets (here, here, here, here, here and here) have been created for this issue.
The fundamental issue that all of us are facing, is that we cannot add new media to the brave playlist on IOS.

Reading through this Ticket, I’ve found also some confusing statements which should be clarified. For example:

This is not true:

  • The ticket I had opened then was for a similar issue, but it has been fixed already (see message marked as solution there).
  • There I stated that a temporary fix is: To “Request Desktop site” from YouTube you can add the media to brave playlist. (that works now too btw (only on YouTube though). Meaning: if you @Juneepearl for example need a fix before a possible update; read this - it works for me now)
  • The workaround is using private mode - That does not work for me now. (and that is also not what I had said would work in the ticket referenced.)

Anyway. Getting back to the “fundamental issue”. We cannot add media to the playlist without getting this nice error:

That also affects us in the way that we cannot save it for offline browsing.

That’s all I have to say for now. If you find a fix or have a question, please respond to this thread.

no, you still cannot add anything to brave playlist (and the description is still not visible) in private mode
