Hmm, I just tested a few videos and have no issues. Mine is on iPhone 13 Pro Max using 1.76 (77) and iOS 18.3.2…though in looking I see there’s an update to 18.4 available so trying that now.
I also tried the different ways of adding to Playlist, though just an FYI I tend to use the hamburger menu → add to playlist option when I do it. Just is a habit of mine that started back when were issues on videos saving when using the other buttons. And I always immediately open Playlist because it generally hasn’t started to download/save until we open it (and sometimes have to click on it). If I ever just added to Playlist and then went about my business, it supposed would expire and give the message like you’re seeing.
Can you test to see if it happens on other websites as well? If it’s just YouTube I’m wondering if you may just need to clear cookies or something? Or if restarting your phone might even help.
It could be something else, but just trying to toy with things and think. So far just having issues replicating. Not sure if it’s a setting, your region, cookies, or what?
Thank you for the tips. I’ll try what you suggested and report back. I’m currently traveling abroad and wonder whether that’s a factor as well. I’ll test again when I’m back in the uk.
As you mentioned cookies, I tried using private browsing and the videos work just fine in that case. So maybe it’s something related to cookies or to being logged in to YouTube
@jonathai even though it may be a bit of a nuisance, perhaps try clearing all Google/YouTube cookies and see if it works. If you’re not sure how, go to Brave’s Settings → Shields & Privacy → Manage Website Data. It will open a list of all cookies (site data) you have on your browser. Just use Search for Google and then for YouTube. It will show a list and you can swipe them from right to left to delete. The name should go away once you fully swipe. Again, do this for Google and then for YouTube. I say this because they are separate entries but affect each other.
You’ll have to sign into Google again, but then will be interesting to see if it works.
Yeh the problem seems to remain even after clearing both sites and authenticating again.
Btw although I said it was working for private browsing earlier, it turns out that it’s not all videos. Some work, others don’t. Will try figure out what the pattern is, or if it’s totally random.
Weird. I know it’s the weekend so support generally isn’t active, with them primarily doing Monday through Friday. Will tag in @Mattches in hopes he can follow up with you later. I hadn’t really seen him last week so not sure if on vacation or what? I’ll tag in @Evan123 as well. In any case, may need to give it time as they juggle everything else.
Press the button at the bottom of the app, to the right of the URL
Open the playlist, click the video.
Not sure why, for me YT videos have always initially appeared at “Expired”, when I click them in the playlist they load and Brave downloads them for offline viewing.
On my end, I don’t need to touch private browsing, nor do I need to disable Shield.
Simple solution put your browser in private mode , add a video to your playlist and it should play .. Once you add a lot of videos you then can put your browser in normal mode and your playlist should work fine
I was adding them by long-pressing on the video, but after testing again the same issue occurs when adding them in the way you suggested, on the same link you shared.
I’ll try again next week when back in the uk just in case..
