Description of the issue:YT live chat takes 30 secs to populate How can this issue be reproduced?
Go to a YT live stream that has live chat
Live video and audio will start
Live chat will take 30 seconds to populate
Expected result: Live chat should populate at the same time video and auto plays
Brave Version( check About Brave): Version 1.44.86 Chromium: 105.0.5195.127 (Official Build) beta (64-bit)
Additional Information:
I have disabled ALL extension in the browser and reloaded the URL for the YT live stream. No difference. I have disabled Ad blocking on Brave no difference. Brave Shields was lowered and no difference. Issue also occurs in Brave release version.
It does NOT occur in Brave Private window nor does it occur in Chrome. In both of these live chat populates without delay.

I have the same issue on Manjaro Linux since about 2 Brave updates back.

Guessing with that, also means not happening if you create a new profile. It essentially suggests that it’s either extensions (even though you’re saying you disabled them) or it’s your cookies.
Since you’ve said that you disabled extensions, maybe try clearing cookies and try again. If that doesn’t work, I might ask you to check new profile or to actually remove extensions. As bad as it sounds, was someone a while ago who had disabled extension but it still somehow interfered. Once they remove extensions, it worked fine again. I just can’t remember which extension they were using.

I tried clearing ALL Google.com and subdomain cookies rather than deleting all my cookies The latter would cause me to loose all configuration information and force me to login to all my other sites. That did not help.
Someone else on the Brave subreddit also mentioned having similar issues w YT live streams chats. The problem is that testing this is difficult since I have to fine a live stream with their chat enabled when I have time to spend.

Same here. I had no problem with Brave and the same extensions until recently on Brave Windows. Before the live chat would populate at the same time the video and audio would start.

I was bouncing between different to try to replicate it. So channels I went to that loaded just fine were:
And quite a bit more. Doesn’t take long to find. Not sure if those will still be going Live for you by time you see it and check.

Ok the first stream played ok in a new profile and the chat populated ok. However when I reloaded the page in the same test profile the chat failed to populate for at least 10 -15 seconds.
Update. I created yet another new profile and loaded https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jfKfPfyJRdk that stream played fine. I reloaded the stream again and chat loaded fine. I closed the two polls that the stream has and then reloaded the stream. That is when the chat failed to populate properly for at least 15 seconds.

When I am playing YouTube videos I am logged into my YouTube accounts. Both use dark mode on and with Autoplay disabled. With these new profiles is is without a login to Google and these settings at a default settings.
I too have tried clearing all cookies, disabled all extensions and tried a new clean profile but still get the 30 second delay before YT chat starts. Chromium works fine on the same machine.

Have you tried that first video above in a new profile? On Brave beta on Win10 it plays fine UNTIL I close the polls that it populates the live chat with. Are you logged in normally to a YouTube account when you watch YouTube live videos like I am?
Yeah like you, logged into my YT account, dark mode, no autoplay. Tried Hip hop radio above, same 30sec delay. Logged out of YT account reloaded that channel and still get 30sec delay.

STrange that here the chat delay in a new profile seemed to occur when I clicked on the X in the 2 polls to close them and forced a reload on the page. Nice to see someone else having similar issues. By the way did you happen to reply to a post I made on the Brave subreddit last week or so? Just wondering if it was someone else having similar issues.

@fanboynz and @SaltyBanana would either of you have any clues from this? I kept testing what is being discussed and as I visited enough times, eventually get into a screen where chat is just gray, doesn’t load. I went to Dev Tools and copy/pasted a lot of what I saw in the console.
Not sure if any of that would have anything that might help, especially the end portion.

Did the chat eventually load in that instance? I have never seen when a live chat did not eventually populate. This as indicated only started happening within the last month or so. Sorry I can not be more specific wrt build #s .

@fedup yeah, it loaded about the time that console showed:

But time listed there is so small compared to anything else. I know I do get a constant flow of error messages while watching. But majority of those are from Shields blocking something.

So when I normally surf and get there, it’s no issues. But while refreshing or clicking on some of these links I see now where the delay is taking place. Originally when tested different ways, had no issue. Only thing though is not sure how to track or know what the problem is. That’s more or less going to be Brave with ideas. I tossed console over just because I had a dev tell me to include it with an issue before. I just don’t know for sure when/if it’s helpful. Figured it didn’t hurt to include this time around. But then for them to also check and see if they can replicate.

I am sure this is not the first time this issue occurred in Brave. It was probably last year or so when I saw same thing happening and then the issue cleared up perhaps due to an update to Brave build.

I mean, at least we see in that where it mentioned live chat and some failure. I just wish I understood the crap better.

I have a Windows Media Video file of the issue happening along with the developer window open if that helps at all.
