Suddenly getting "Ad blockers are not allowed on YouTube"

Same issues here & I for one despise Google and DO NOT appreciate them threatening me as a user!

this showed up for me today, first time for it

@RedCastleBowser did you check for updates on everything at brave://components? If not, try to do that and restart your browser. Should go away (chance it wonā€™t, but is primary step to fix it)

yeah I read through thread before posting, made sure everything is up to date, restarted Browser and everything, still pops up

@RedCastleBowser Ah, ok. Only had seen you had that issue, so wasnā€™t sure where you were in the grand scheme of things. Not sure if itā€™s about that time for them to roll out another update or what. Iā€™ll tag in @fanboynz anyway.

yeah, opened a new window, now its the permanent ad block screen, I canā€™t close it

Nothing I can do prevents me from getting the notice now. I got the three-strikes-before-youā€™re-blocked popup, then just a choice to either allow ads or buy YT Premium.

So far, clearing cookies resets the process, at least for a while.

This is on Beta. I donā€™t have any extensions running.

Itā€™s definitely an account-specific enforcement action on YTā€™s part.

I used up my three strikes, and now Iā€™m just staying signed in to yt, looking up the video I want to watch, right clicking on the thumbnail, and opening it in a private window or a private window with Tor. Of course, Iā€™m (automatically) signed out of yt in the private window, but I have yet to see any ads.

That doesnā€™t mean that things wonā€™t change. But, so far, thatā€™s how it has worked for me.

I have updated everything. Still get this message

I have a working solution on my end.

Youtube refuses to play any videos when Iā€™m logged in - on a normal tab.

But logging into my youtube account on a private window (ctrl+shift+N) fixes the problem. Zero ads and zero pop-ups.

The only problem with using my youtube account on a private tab is no extensions.

But the team at Brave is awesome, and you can authorize extensions in private tabs via the settings menu (in a normal tab). See below.

Any YT extensions may trigger the anti-adblock, discovered the other day Ghostery Adblock extension will trigger it. When I test, I test in a clean Brave profile with no extensions

Confirmed.

Adding the extension breaks this method.
Remove the extension and videos play as normal (no ads, no pop-ups).

@OneHitWonder itā€™s already long been confirmed that Enhancer for YouTube breaks it. Supposedly might be okay if you go into its settings and disable the adblock functionality that exists in it. But even thenā€¦

This is why we all keep enforcing the idea you should use only what extensions are necessary. Ideally you should use none as it increases privacy and lowers the chances of compatibility issues.

Also think I have seen some people say Return YouTube Dislike was causing issues the other day. Not sure if thatā€™s still the case. But main ideaā€¦definitely donā€™t want any extensions for YouTube right now

Same here. I can no longer watch YT videos in Brave. Tried several tweaks suggested by others but no success. This is very unfortunate. Iā€™ve used Brave for almost 2 years now with no issues until a couple of days ago with YT. Brave needs to fix this quickly or a lot of people will be very frustrated and not use it.

Tried your suggestion and it worked! I will only use this tweak for YT and use regular Brave for all of my other browsing. Thanks for sharing!

I have a solid solution that works for me on my iPad and iPhone using the desktop site. This is specifically for people that are having the issue with music playlists not working and having to refresh to play each video.

Simply use music.YouTube.com

Still not working on mobile even after multiple component updates. Just glad in the meantime Beta and Nightly seem to work for using YT.

Logging in from a private window might be a solution. Itā€™s worked so far for me.

Nothing else has worked. I updated everything on brave://components, and I still eventually get the video-player ban. I clear cookies and it works for a while, but then eventually the ban comes back. Iā€™ve deleted every single extension in my Brave browser, and still it comes back. Iā€™ve tried using YT in Brave Beta ā€“ same thing.
