Hi, since this morning I have been getting YouTube ads, at the start of some videos, restarted browser and still getting them. These can’t be skipped like they usually can. Anyone else? Seems YouTube has changed something.
Did you have your shield UP for YouTube? Brave icon at URL bar. Grey icon mean it’s DOWN.

Yeah yeah, kind of shocked me as it happened while I had been randomly watching videos with no ads, though youtube screwed up and they were playing wrong video. Definitely something YouTube has done, as no skip either. Are you not getting ads right this minute? [Version 1.8.96 Chromium: 81.0.4044.138 (Official Build) (64-bit)]

Could be because I modified a cookie to keep it at the old layout, lots of small thumbnails on home page. But has been like this for months and no ads. Edited, changes to “new youtube” and still ads grrr. Can’t handle this, so ads since YouTube started and now ads. Added adblock plus in the mean time and back to no ads. Something is up though.

Can you try clearing cache/cookies for YouTube?

Please fix, this essentially makes Brave unusable for me. I don’t wanna go back to Chrome.

I have the same problem as well. I tried deleting youtube data, but the adds still appear.
It does seem to happen more often when I open youtube in a new tab, instead of using it in the same tab.
I also want to mention that I had a youtube extension, but it didn’t work, so I uninstalled that extension. I also tried to reinstall Brave Browser, but that didn’t solve the problem.

Yeah me too, and it’s annoying as I only use brave because it was so good at removing them. Now in the last 24 hours I cannot watch youtube unless it’s one of the channels I am subscribed to that has been demonetised by youtube. I have gone through all the steps suggested to fix the issue but to no avail, I’m guessing they’ve worked out how to get around Brave’s shield. Need an update asap as this is driving me nuts.
It’s working fine on my mobile app of Brave just to add.

Umm that is YouTube.com on desktop, I modified a cooking so the home page has more thumbnails, the old layout as I hate the new layout. I removed that cookie and it still happens.
I used the right click - BRAVE - Block element suggestion and it worked. Too bad all of Youtube has gone blank now and I haven’t been able to find a way to revert the blocking selection…
Example (just did now), With Shields enabled/disabled. (in private window mode, US vpn)
Maybe reset yt permissions and clear data would be a start

Refreshing the page does nothing but change the advert and disabling and enabling shield made no difference too. Currently Youtube is unwatchable for me on desktop
Try in a clean profile, (download Brave beta) no other extensions. and re-test youtube.
It is a YouTube thing, reinstalling and changing things isn’t going to do anything. Just have to wait until there is a fix or use adblock plus which I am using, Just curious, what country are you in? Maybe they are testing it out in certain countries first.
