Starting brave pegs cpu for process - WMI provider host

-------->**

Description of the issue

starting brave browser also pegs cpu for process - WMI provider host. this WMI providor host process doesn’t seem to normally appear in taskmgr but when I start brave it appears at the top and starts consuming cpu about 35% and stays there until I end task and stop it -after which brave keeps running fine. another wrinkle I’m not sure if it has any effect on this problem - when I am not using internet I turn off the connection using this command -
netsh interface set interface “Ethernet” admin=disable
netsh interface show interface
and then when I want to connect to internet I enable the connection with this command -
netsh interface set interface “Ethernet” admin=enable
Yes IE does NOT cause this problem to happen, only brave and only recently, like this was not happening last week ?

Exact URL of the website in question

any URL just start brave

Did the issue present with default Shields settings? [Default states are: Block: Ads/Trackers, 3rd Party Cookies, 3rd Party Fingerprinting Allow: Encrypt Connections enabled (HTTPS), Scripts] (yes/no)

I don’t know

Does the site function as expected when Shields are turned off? (yes/no)

I just checked shileds are “up” I will post this and try again with them off

Is there a specific Shields configuration that causes the site to break? If so, tell us that configuration. (yes/no)

I don’t use these I have no idea

Does the site function as expected when using Chrome? (yes/no)

yes for IE11 I don’t know about chrome

What Operating System and Brave version/Build are you using when you encounter the issue?(See the About Brave page in the main menu)

windows 8.1 with fcked up updating stuff who knows I have lots of updates but now the update crap hangs and doesn’t work anymore and I am not reinstalling all this windows sht to fix their crppy problems

brave version
netsh interface set interface “Ethernet” admin=enable

ok now this problem seems intermittent. I thought it was related to turning on/off the internet connection but now don’t know. when the connection is off - the little icon has red x - when the connection is “starting” - the little icon has yellow triangle - when the connection is “running” - the little icon is just the little icon
so
starting brave when the internet connect is “starting” has the yellow triangle, brave starts ok but try to go website then get the connection invalid with little dinosaur - I thought this sequence was triggering the WMI process - and it was repeatable several times or I would not have done all this typing for this bug

I can’t repeatedly isolate it & can’t post images :frowning:

good luck finding this bug - the workaround is just to whack the WMI process, it doesn’t seem to bother anything else
