I can not enter Google account

Hello! I have been using your browser for more than 6 months now. So far, it hasn’t been bad. But today, when I entered the mail, I received a message - clear cookies. I cleared my cookies, but I couldn’t login. Then I cleared cookies for all the time, cleared the registry, rebooted and at the entrance the mail asked me to confirm the entrance through the YouTube application. I confirmed, but still can’t log in! I never disabled this brave shield, but I found a similar question, but there the person had an alert that he had cookies disabled. I have them turned on, but I still turned off the brave shield, but no effect! Help me with this, please! This makes it very difficult to use your browser!

Hi there @bagsymallone I will require the following information in order to make further investigation:

Steps to Reproduce (add as many as necessary): 1. 2. 3.

Actual Result (gifs and screenshots are welcome!):

Expected result:

Reproduces how often:

Operating System and Brave Version(See the About Brave page in the main menu):

Additional Information:

In the meantime, try these steps to see if this solves the issue:

    • Click on Brave Shields Icon
    • Under advanced controls select Block trackers & ads
    • From the dropdown menu select each of the three options when trying to login to see if you are able do it.

Regards.

Hello @bagsymallone, also you can try disabling your extensions as one of them may be causing a conflict with them logging in. Let us know if this is still an issue. Thanks.

Did you try turning the Shields off for logging in?

Also a reinstall of the browser?

I also have the exact issue. Doing the same process in an incognito tab works fine. Turning off shield does not do anything

Steps to Reproduce (add as many as necessary): 1. 2. 3.

  1. Go to login to Google account
  2. Sign into Google account as normal
  3. Get met with this page https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/6240232?visit_id=638002062306433642-1004556868&hl=en&rd=1

Being able to login to Google account

Everytime.
Operating System and Brave Version(See the About Brave page in the main menu):
Windows 10,
Brave Version 1.44.105 Chromium: 106.0.5249.91

To add onto this, I tried the extra information about changing the Block trackers & ads and it didn’t fix anything. I also tried turning off shields and that doesn’t fix anything either.
Going into incog window acts as normal

Don’t know if should have tagged you or not @Kevin_cc

If it works in a private window, this is usually an indicator that an installed extension may be causing a problem. If you have any extensions installed, disable all of them and see if that solves the problem. If it does, re-enable your extensions one at a time to see if you can pinpoint the one causing the issue.

Sometimes the problem disappears after just disabling/enabling extensions, so you may not be able to identify which extension was causing the problem. But if you do, please post the name of the extension. It may help others experiencing the same problem.

As a sidenote, support recommends that users experiencing an issue, create their own topic even if there is a topic open with a similar issue. The details can vary (version, OS, settings, installed extensions, etc.) and it is easier and more efficient to address variations when dealing with only one user at a time. In the future, please create you own topic. It will avoid confusion and really help community members and/or support troubleshoot your issue. :slightly_smiling_face:

@bagsymallone Was your issue resolved? Are you still experiencing a problem? Please provide an update.

Hey @Chocoholic, apologies, I did not mean to hijack the post. I will do that moving forward.

Just to add to your advice, I did exactly as you said.

Once I removed all of the extensions, the problem was solved, as you said it probably would be.

I started adding extensions one by one and have come to the conclusion that it is the ExpressVPN extension (FOR ME) that is causing the issue. I have removed the ExpressVPN extension for now and it is all working as expected.

Would be curious to know if OP also had ExpressVPN installed.

Cheers,

Hi guys! Sorry for not answering, I had to work and rush between two browsers instead of one.
I have Windows 8.1 x64
Brave - the latest version.
You said the right thing. I went through all my extensions. You don’t need to disable anything other than HTTPS Everywhere
Unfortunately, disabling the extension for gmail only does not solve the problem! Only completely disabling the extension solves the issue. Perhaps you have contacts with EFF because HTTPS Everywhere is an important part of Internet security. Thank you Chocoholic, thank you all you guys!

@bagsymallone @FoxSneaks So glad your problem was identified! :slightly_smiling_face:

@bagsymallone You should mark you above post as the solution so other community members and Brave support know your issue is solved.

@Mattches for visibility. ExpressVPN and HTTPS Everywhere extensions causing conflicts.

I just discovered Brave browser yesterday and was having the same very frustrating issue, trying to check my Gmail or do work on my work Gmail account and not being able to. I am SO GLAD to find this thread!

I love the HTTPS Everywhere extension, but I had to let it go, and as soon as I did, Gmail and Google Drive worked perfectly. Whew. Go, Team!!
