Description of the issue:
I found and enabled you.com as default search on Brave windows application, and now I want to do similiar thing on Brave android app, is this possible ?
Brave Version (check
Brave 1.41.96, Chromium 103.0.5060.114
Android 12; Build/RKQ1.211119.001
Yes, it is possible. I’ll link to where answers came from, but the short of it is you must first go to
you.com and use it to search for something. Originally I just went to the site, but it didn’t show up. But going to You.com and typing in something random, then going to
Settings > Search Engines > Standard Tab it showed
You.com as an option.
Ah I see
If Presearch support open-search, then you can add it yourself (it’ll listed under “Recent visited” under Settings > Search Engine).
No plans to add another search engine, AFAIK. cc @Serg @sriram
@eljuno pointed you can use the recently visited sites list to add it as custom search engine. As of now there is no decision on allowing custom search engines, but we might add option to add custom search engine at a later point in time
Worth noting that if you actually visit and use a search engine, it (should be) automatically added to the list of available search engines (Settings —> Search engines --> [Recently visited]).
Just tested this myself and it worked, but I did have to close/relaunch the browser first. Will have to check and see if that is expected or if that is a bug.
Many thanks, that worked.
Thanks and Kind regards,
