Cannot add local Google search site to Brave on Android

On my old Android smartphone, I added google.be as (default) search engine.

When I try to do that on my new Android smartphone, it doesn’t work.

I tried a number of other search engines (perplexity, you.com, presearch) and these all appear under Settings > Search Engines > Recently Visited.

However, when I do a search action on google.be and then go to Recently Visited search engines, google.be does not appear.

Is there a way to add a custom search engine manually or to force it in another way?

Now, nearly 4 months later, I was able to add google.be as default search engine. However, I had been fiddling around with multiple settings, so I don’t really know how I managed to do it. Moreover, I cannot simulate it for e.g. google.fr. So I’m not going to describe here what I did exactly - maybe in the future I’ll try my ‘fiddlings’ again and come up with a road map.
