Just as it is possible in the desktop version of Brave, where the user can add other search engines besides the traditional Google, Bing, DuckDuckgo, Yahoo,… This feature should also exist in Brave Android App, because in the Android version only It is possible to use one of the search engines that are already pre-registered by Brave team.
Please add the possibility of adding an external search engine.
Worth noting that if you actually visit and use a search engine, it (should be) automatically added to the list of available search engines (Settings —> Search engines --> [Recently visited]
).
Just tested this myself and it worked, but I did have to close/relaunch the browser first. Will have to check and see if that is expected or if that is a bug.
+1 on ability to manually add search engine.
I recently deployed a searxng search engine within my VPN and it doesn’t show up in the Recently Visited section of the Brave search engine picker (even after force closing the browser), maybe because my search engine isn’t publicly available? Not sure.
There really should be a way to manually add a search engine, not sure why this isn’t an option.
Thanks!
