Description of the issue:
Media control buttons on keyboard always control players in Brave, altough the flag “Global media controls control Cast start/stop” is meant to be an option to turn that on/off. Disabling said flag does not change Brave’s behaviour. I have noticed this issue well over a year ago and it has persisted since then.
Steps to Reproduce (add as many as necessary): 1. 2. 3.
- Navigate to brave://flags
- Search for “Global media controls control Cast start/stop”
- Change the flags setting to “disable” and restart the browser
- Using media control buttons, e. g. on a keyboard still results in Browser players, e. g. YouTube or Twitch being controlled.
- Attention: It may matter which application is running in the foreground. With said flag being disabled, Browser players should never be controlled with media buttons on keyboard.
Actual Result (gifs and screenshots are welcome!):
Browser players are still being controlled by media buttons on keybaord.
Expected result:
Browser players are never being controlled by media buttons on keybaord.
Reproduces how often:
Always (I have this issue since well over a year and hoped it would be fixed soon)
Operating System and Brave Version(See the About Brave
page in the main menu):
- Windows 11
- 1.70.119, Chromium 129.0.6668.70, 64-Bit
