Device Limit Reached |Your wallet cannot be verified because you've reached the maximum verified device limit.9/6/2021

This is completely bs. I have 1 windows laptop and 1 Debian laptop connected both are saying the same thing. Trouble started 2 updates ago. Haven’t reinstalled brave. This needs to be fixed. Need to allow us to add/remove devices.

Update.
Last week i got ransomware. And had to do a full recovery lost 45 bat from my browser this is getting ridiculous. FIX IT TO WHERE WE CAN DELETE THE SO CALLED DEVICES WHICH WAS ONLY TWO DEVICES. AND NOW IM AT THREE BECAUSE I HAD TO REINSTALL BRAVE AS WELL.

I am with you. Like sooo many other as well who have this problem. And also can’t use Gemini due to location or simply don’t want to use it.

@vagoldprospector,
Can you please send me a DM with the wallet payment IDs for both your devices (found on your brave://rewards-internals page) so that I can take a closer look?

Also seeing this on my end. I’m a Linux user who wants to be able to Distro/Desktop Environment hop at my discretion. Not being able to unlink old browsers is a HUGE oversight. Especially when I completely lose access to that old browser’s internal information when I move to a new setup. Can this enhancement (imo, bug) get moved up in the roadmap please? I would trade any new feature for the ability to unlink old browsers if it means I can continue linking Brave Rewards to my existing Uphold account.

Same device limit problem with me. Now I m using another mobile with brave without linking my verified Uphold account. Kindly suggest whether I should try to link my Uphold account on this new mobile. Or should I try to consult community for solution. What would be the best approach?

Ok I could not wait n tried to link my Uphold account. Linked Brave with Uphold but Brave still says that I need 15 Bats to verify my account I ve tried twice to link my verified Uphold account but still Brave shows the same 15 Bat message

I noticed this week that my main Brave browser is no longer linked to Uphold. This is odd as this is my main machine. I have linked 3 or 4 machines total, and haven’t changed anything…as in I haven’t wiped and reinstalled any OS or Brave. The machines in question run either Windows 10, or Linux Mint 20.x.

In looking into this it seems that none on my linked Brave browsers have been contributing to the BAT since about Feb 2021. But payments have still been going out.

Something odd is going on.

Is there a way to determine which of my browsers are linked?
Currently they all say they need to be verified, again. I’m mostly concerned with the main one that I use. When it starts it comes up saying that the device limit has been reached. And then “Verify Wallet” is the choice given…which doesn’t work as the device limit has been reached. And again, this was connecting fine for months.
The other browsers just state that the wallet needs to be verified…although I haven’t tried to verify them again yet.

I contacted Uphold and asked them what I can do. Like maybe creating a new account, linking my browsers to that, and transferring the existing funds. They told me that they are not able to see which browsers I have linked, and that I wouldn’t be able to create a new account. They had no other info on how to resolve this other than contacting Brave support. …so here I am.

The issue with this is on Braves end. once you hit device limit. you cant ever again link any brave wallet to that custodian. In this case uphold.
Brave has to fix this. In the year 2021, how likely is it that people use a maximum of 4 devices and never change it? yea, ZERO!

Brave has to give us a way to remove our old devices. Which in most cases are just the same device with a fresh reinstall of windows etc. And there is no way to back up the old wallets. I tried.
Copied all Brave related files anywhere on the computer to a backup and put them back in after reinstall. it still creates a new Brave wallet with new ID.

And you cant access the old wallet anymore at all. (By wallet I mean brave rewards).

The current system is just very poorly designed.

I’m facing the same problem here and i totally agree with you
I frequently format my PC to install a new windows and i only have 1 device

This is insane. It’s like they are trying to make BAT as difficult to use as possible. Arbitrary minimum balances required that are different by platform and then this.
So I think a not unusual scenario in 2021. I work and have a work laptop and work mobile. I like to keep work and home separate so I have a home laptop and home mobile.
That’s 4 devices and I’ve hit the limit and hey presto brave won’t let me verify my wallet ever again.
So I can never reinstall brave, reinstall android, reinstall OS.
Why?

I have the same issue. My main work pc that I’ve been using Brave for the past 2 years said my wallet needs verification. So naturally I clicked it and tried to re-verify with Uphold, then it gives me a message saying I used up my 4 device links, which doesn’t make sense because this is the main and first device that I linked this with. Now I’m stuck with a BAT balance on this machine unable to transfer to Uphold so this balance is now held hostage on this pc.

This is ridiculous. I just use my laptop (OSX and Linux) and my smartphone, so they should count as 3 devices.

Do they live and die with the same device their entire life at Brave?

Nah, I doubt it will take that long. Wouldnt be suprised if it is done by the end of the month max. But only take this with a grain of salt. since I have no idea. I just hope it goes fast.
