Yesterday I had done exactly that, went to Coinbase and started an account. Problem was when I registered my bank card, it showed as belonging to someone else. I couldn’t find a way to contact them, and an so tired of fooling with all this and spending hours on the computer, I just quit for the day. I’m going to see if I can find a phone number today and call them. I think I’ll just do everything via coinbase, and not use Exodus.
I’ll update as things change, and anyone considering using Brave Wallet. Don’t. This thread is the perfect reason not to. You can see how concerned about issues with their services. They are nowhere to be found.
Well, after completing coinbase account, buying eth there, it seems there’s no where to "receive " in to Brave wallet. I only have the option to buy via wyre.
Is there even a way to get eth from coinbase into brave wallet, or is this simply another of their ways to take your money?
@Brian6 You just need your account address to receive Ethereum. Your account address begins with 0x641e… Click on it and it will be copied, paste it in coinbase.
That’s why I don’t touch anything ETH based, besides for speculating with shitcoins where the eventual returns or losses make the ridiculously high gas fees a minor issue.
Hey Brian,
I tried that too and it didn’t work. Just use Coinbase, they have been around for a while and it is user-friendly.
Maybe Brave will get it but their wallet must be in beta stage…
I’ve made that mistake as well. What I’m learning is this entire crypto system seems to be nothing more than a way to take your money for nothing.
I’ve just filed a complaint with the CFPB (Consumer Financial Protection Bureau) on Coinbase (and will likely do the same with Brave).
You may want to get your $$ away from Coinbase ASAP.

Washington, D.C. — The Commodity Futures Trading Commission today issued an order filing and settling charges against digital asset exchange operator Coinbase Inc., based in San Francisco, California, for reckless false, misleading, or inaccurate reporting as well as wash trading by a former employee on Coinbase’s GDAX platform.
The order requires Coinbase to pay a civil monetary penalty of $6.5 million and to cease and desist from any further violations of the Commodity Exchange Act or CFTC regulations, as charged.
“Reporting false, misleading, or inaccurate transaction information undermines the integrity of digital asset pricing,” said Acting Director of Enforcement Vincent McGonagle. “This enforcement action sends the message that the Commission will act to safeguard the integrity and transparency of such information.”
They also have an “F” BBB rating, with hundreds of complaints there as well. There needs to be Class Action Lawsuits against these people.
as you said yourself, you’re not computer literate so why would you even start to do something that you don’t understand? Were you doing some other stuff in your life until you understand it. With crypto you’re your own bank and you NEED to learn stuff. If you don’t want to learn than crypto is not for you, and stick to something that you understand
Well, I’m older and NOT computer illiterate. I’ve been using computers since 1989. I am however new to this unfortunate experiment on Brave’s part to have a “wallet” built into their browser. I successfully swapped for VeChain (VET, not the old VEN) using SwapSpace. I have the transaction hash. VET will not show up in my wallet no matter what I do. I added it as a custom asset. Still nothing. I guess my approximately $85 worth of VeChain is lost in limbo somewhere. Too bad Brave Software doesn’t have an actual customer support department.
That’s because VET is not compatible with the ETH network as it operates under its own native network. Therefore, VET is not compatible with brave wallet. See if this info can help. The solution should be similar to metamask as both are web3 wallets.
In theory, yes. You just have to really trust your friend. It’s like saying, here’s my bank account number and password, can you make a withdrawal for me?
Thank you!! It took me a long time to find how to get the private key in the brave wallet, but I got it and successfully transferred the VET into a compatible wallet I have.
