I hade same issue, brave was super laggy. it was working for months but suddenly changed to super slow/laggy few days ago
My solution / fix:
Nvidia Control Panel ->3D settings → Manage 3D settings → Global settings → Max Frame rate was 1 fps, i changes that to “off”. After that Brave is fast as it used to be.
I have no idea what would changed that to 1fps
