YouTube steam has buffer issues when split out to new window and surfing on original window

When streaming YouTube videos on one Brave window while surfing pages in another Brave window, YouTube videos have performance/buffering issues when loading new pages.
How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. Open Brave and go to YouTube, start streaming a video.
  2. Open a second tab and then drag that tab out as a new window.
  3. Continue surfing on the second window, with the YouTube video continuing to play in the original window.
  4. As you transition to new sites, I notice the YouTube stream stuttering a bit and then occasionally it will stop to buffer.
  5. If I surf websites on another Browser (Edge,Chrome) while a streaming YouTube on a Brave browser window, I do not have this issue.

I’m on Gigabit hardwire, averaging about 750-850Mbps, and this issue has happened on many different occasions. I would expect YouTube streams to not have this issue. I normally don’t have it with other browsers

@Mattches @steeven @Alice2095 @Kevin_cc @Jarc-1107 please look into this. Thanks!

Hello there @Jrkoons1 sorry to hear you are experiencing buffering issues with YouTube.

Can you try disabling Hardware Acceleration in settings to see if this resolves the issue? You’ll find this in Settings --> Additional Settings --> System --> Hardware Acceleration

If that does not work, try opening YouTube in private or guest mode, to see if the page no longer stutters.

Be waiting for your response. Regards.
