Youtube has sound but no video

Description of the issue:
When visiting youtube.com, I can see video previews when I hover over the videos. However, when I click on one to view it, the video page shows the loading circle animation briefly and then disappears once the video’s sound starts playing. The page loads as expected except that there is no video box. Here’s an example of a page:

Steps to Reproduce (add as many as necessary): 1. 2. 3.

  1. I go to youtube.com.
  2. I select a video.

Operating System and Brave Version(See the About Brave page in the main menu):
MacOS 10.11.6
Version 1.41.100 Chromium: 103.0.5060.134 (Official Build) (x86_64)

Additional Information:
This started happening just this week with no updating on my part.

Could you try this, please?

Go to brave://settings/system

Check if "Use hardware acceleration when available " is on.

If it is on, turn it off, and relaunch Brave to see if it works now.

I found the difficulty! I had accidentally blocked the youtube player using the right-click Brave menu that blocked the element. When I inspected the element, I found the youtube player at the end of the custom filter, deleted it, saved, and I’m back in business.

Hope this helps anyone else who may experience unforeseen problems due to custom filters.
