No sound on Mac laptop

I downloaded Brave two weeks ago. It was working fine, then a few days ago I had it on pause. The video started playing by itself but there was no sound. I checked sound on Google Chrome browser and it’s normal.

I switched Brave off and on again. Deleted and redownloaded Brave. Restarted the device.

Checked Brave preferences and functions. Checked my device’s preferences and functions.

I could find nothing to correct the problem. There is still no sound whenever I launch Brave and there is nothing wrong with my device.

Operating system is Mac OS version 12.7.6, Brave version 1.79.118

Thank you for the information. Can you confirm for me whether or not you are able to hear sound in videos from other websites, or if it’s only Youtube where you see this issue occur?

There’s also a video on this page – can you please check and see if sound comes from there as well? We are trying to narrow down whether or no the issue is specific to Youtube or a general browser issue.

I played the video on the page you linked to https://community.brave.com/t/no-sound-on-mac-laptop/622602/8 and the sound was fine. I don’t see any other video on that page.

I replied to this message yesterday but received no response from you yet.

Can you please visit youtube.com then:

  1. Click the “tune” icon next to the URL
    image
  2. Then click Site settings
  3. Then click both Delete data and Site settings

Then refresh the page. You’ll likely need to log back into the site. Please tell me if this resolves the issue for you.

That worked. I deleted data but couldn’t find permissions to delete. But it worked anyway, sound is back. Many thanks!
