I cannot import my exported Brave bookmarks from another laptop to this laptop. I’ve tried all methods and ‘solutions’ offered already on this community post platform. Specifically, I tried the solution(s) offered in a post dated March 2023 with the same subject line. Nothing works.
In addition, I tried exporting 1 bookmark from this workstation, then deleting it and I was able to successfully import. But I need to import my exported bookmarks from a different workstation. I’ve also tried to import to other browsers, then import from each browser - Chrome, Firefox, Edge - to Brave. None of these bookmark transfers worked either.
Exporting bookmarks from an Internet browser, typically creates an HTML file. From Brave Browser, that will be file “bookmarks.html”. From Microsoft Edge, file “favorites.html”.
Those two HTML files, are examples of what can be imported by Internet browsers.
I’ve updated the original post with the requested information. As a computer trainer of 36 years, I’ve imported/exported from all common browsers many times. Brave bookmark export seemed to work fine. It produced the bookmark file successfully.
I’ve since uninstalled/reinstalled Brave on two different computers with slightly different results. Now, it does import some bookmarks but truncates at about 10% of the total bookmarks I have - on both computers. I have a lot of bookmarks so I’m wondering if there’s a maximum file size or number of bookmarks that’s creating the problem. If so, how can I efficiently edit the bookmark file? Is there a bookmark app that allows me to filter by last used date so I can clear those to reduce file size?
