Unable to Import Bookmarks

Description of Issue:

When importing bookmarks (exported from a different browser), I click the button to select the export file, the file selection window disappears, and Brave does nothing. I have tried doing this both through the Bookmarks Manager, and also using the menu item under Bookmarks > Import Bookmarks and Settings. Either way I do it, the same thing happens (which is nothing at all).

Brave Version:

Version 1.62.156 Chromium: 121.0.6167.139 (Official Build) (64-bit)

If you go to your Bookmarks Manager, brave://bookmarks/, can you look at the folders on the left? Do you have one that says Other Bookmarks?

This is where everything goes when imported, typically. If you’re instead looking at your bookmarks bar or something, could be an issue.

Just asking to confirm whether this is an issue for you or if it is indeed something else as you explained.

Hi. Thanks for the reply. This is actually one of the first things I checked, because I’ve seen Brave do that before myself. I just checked again to make sure. Unfortunately, they are not in the ‘Other Bookmarks’ folder either.

I found the solution…sort of. Brave can import and export bookmarks locally on my PC, but I was trying to import the file from a network share. Why I can’t do this outside of my local storage, I’m not sure. Regardless, I have a work around for now that makes it easy to accomplish what I need to.
