Brave not showing me options of other browers to import data from

I am having trouble trying to import my data from Google Chrome to Brave Browser. Whenever I go to Import Bookmarks and Settings, it only shows me the option of importing through HTML and will not show me any other browser.

I am on the latest version of Brave Browser, so I am stumped on what I should do. I have been at this for 4 hours and haven’t been able to transfer my stuff over. What should I do?

@BenBlazing when you Export Bookmarks on any web browser, it creates a file. That file is the HTML one. So what Brave is asking you to do is choose the file saved on your device that contains the bookmarks you want to move over.

If you’re trying to move it all over from a browser you have installed on your device, then when you choose Import bookmarks and settings or Import Bookmarks you should see something like below where you can choose installed browsers:

But otherwise like here on Chrome:

Choosing Export Bookmarks would have opened like below:

I would have set the location and it would save HTML Document

Then I would have gone to Brave and chose to Import Bookmarks and I would choose that HTML document I had saved.

Sorry just edited because when I went back to try I see they changed behavior from what I used to see. Should be more accurate. Edited within minutes of posting, but yeah…

It should be seeing other browsers by all means. If it doesn’t then I’d ask if you might have deleted profiles or even uninstalled those browsers?

Also incredibly important is that you share what specific version of Brave and OS you’re using. Such as are on Windows 11 and using Brave 1.76.13 or what are you on?

Yeah I’m not seeing the option that allows me to select a browser to import from. I had to do it the longer way by downloading my Bookmarks and Passwords from Chrome as HTML files and then import them into Brave that way.

As for what OS I’m using, I’m using Linux Mint 22.1 Cinnamon ver 6.8.0-55.
The Version of Brave I’m on is Version 1.76.81. It’s a fresh install.
