Ubuntu Snap version of Brave does not save Logins/Sync

Description of the issue:
Recently installed Ubuntu 24.04.1 on a new machine. After the clean install I installed Brave through the Ubuntu/Snap “App Center”.

After singning into all of my usual web services: email, password manager, etc. and verifying they all worked, I exited Brave through the menu.

Later when I started Brave back up all of my tabs opened, but I had been logged out of every single website. Even my Sync said I was not in any sync chain!! I’m guessing all of the cookies were deleted?

After trying many things offered on the web regarding this, I tried uninstalling Brave and starting over. I also tried deleting the cache files under /home/myname/snap/brave and starting brave up clean.

Nothing solved the issue. Finally I gave up, uninstalled Snap-Brave and reinstalled Brave via the apt/keyring supplied on the Brave website for standard Linux installer: Debian, Ubuntu, Mint. That version seems to work.

Steps to Reproduce (add as many as necessary): 1. 2. 3.
Install Brave through Snap on Ubuntu 24.04.1. I cannot confirm any other versions as I only have tested the latest Ubuntu.

Actual Result (gifs and screenshots are welcome!):
Sorry, did’t take the time to take screen shots, and I won’t install it again.

Expected result:
I should NOT be logged out of Sync and all web services after closing Brave browser and re-opening it.

Reproduces how often:
Every time, after a half a dozen attempts I gave up.

Additional Information:
Searching for this on Google/whatever is made more difficult becuase the word “snap” has another meaning for Chromium/Brave!

probaly snap dosent have permission for gnome keyrinf/secret services since it need to store locally encrypted keys for sync

example on KDE desktop it stores sync encryption on random password as locally and if i delete that details from Kwallet it looses full sync connection.

That’s interesting. Where are such keys stored on Gnome? I assumed that Brave stored it in it’s standard data location, in this case ~/snap/brave.
