I use Brave across multiple Android devices and Desktop Linux (Ubuntu). On Ubuntu after the latest update to 128.0.6613.138, passwords will no longer sync.
The password list was empty, so I remove the Desktop browser from the sync chain and added it back in again. I checked “Sync everything”. No dice. I tried unchecking Sync everything and toggling “sync passwords”.
No matter what I do I can’t get the browser to sync passwords. I can see all the devices in the sync chain, so I know that it is set up correctly.
@rabinnh Could you do me a favor and check a few things?
On your Android devices, does it show that password sync is enabled? Some newer Android devices have had issues where they require biometrics but still won’t sync, even if it’s enabled. It’s a known issue being looked into and seems to resolve in Beta or later. I’m just curious if this might be affecting you.
Is it only passwords that aren’t syncing? I’d like to confirm if bookmarks, history, or other items are syncing correctly across your devices.
On your Linux device, what does it show under brave://sync-internals? For example, you should see information similar to what’s in the screenshot below.
NOTE
In the future, please make sure to provide the version of Brave you’re using. The number you mentioned, 128.0.6613.138, is the Chromium version, not the specific version of Brave. The current version of Brave is 1.69.168.
Since Brave can update without changing the Chromium version, sharing the correct Brave version can be important when troubleshooting.
