Description of the issue:
The back button doesn’t work as expected for some websites. If I am clicking through pages on a certain site and then click to go back to the previous page, the current tab will remain on the same page. The address bar will update correctly, however. If I refresh the page, it will then load correctly. If I keep clicking the back button until I go to a different site, that site will load correctly.
The same behavior happens using two fingers to swipe back instead of clicking the back button.
How can this issue be reproduced?
- Google “prusa firmware” (https://www.google.com/search?q=prusa+firware&oq=prusa+firware&gs_lcrp=EgZjaHJvbWUyBggAEEUYOTIGCAEQLhhA0gEIMTcxOGowajGoAgCwAgA&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8)
- Click on Firmware for Original Prusa i3 3D printer by PrusaResearch
- Click on cmake
- Click on back button to return to prusa-firmware homepage
At this point, my browser remains on the cmake page. The address bar shows https://github.com/prusa3d/Prusa-Firmware
, but the content is not updating to reflect that.
- Click on back button again
Now I am back at the google search results.
The same issue arises periodically with YouTube.
- I open a new tab and go to
https://www.youtube.com/
. This brings me to the YouTube homepage - I click on a video
- I click on the back button
This sometimes doesn’t bring me back to the homepage. Sometimes it brings me back to the homepage while continuing to play the audio of the video in the background.
Other notable problematic sites are facebook and instagram.
Expected result:
Brave Version( check About Brave
): 1.76.73
Additional Information:
Ok I did actually just check if it had anything to do with my extensions and I found a lead. I turned off the “one sec” extension and the back button returned to working as expected. I toggled it back on to confirm this was the issue and low and behold I was back to a non-functioning back button. I tried this out with Google Chrome and it had the same effect. I then tried it with Safari, and the extension didn’t actually seem to effect the back button’s functionality. It seems it might be something with the Chromium version of this extension…
