Sync Instructions Are Completely Wrong

Description of the issue:
Setting up sync between an Android device and an imac is impossible.

How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. On the imac, Go To brave://sync/

  2. Click “Add New Device”

  3. Click “Phone/ Tablet”

  4. I see a popup “Sync Chain QR Code”, with the text
    On your mobile device, navigate to Brave Sync in the Settings panel and click the button “Scan Sync Code”. Use your camera to scan the QR Code below.

And there is a QR code to scan.

  1. On the mobile device (Android running Brave 1.4.2, Chromium 78.0.3904.62)

Note that, contrary to what is found in step 4, on the mobile device: THERE IS NO BRAVE SYNC. So instead try

Go to Settings > Sync

  1. Tap “Add another device”

  2. “Add a Computer”> Code Words

There is NO OPTION to scan a QR code.

I am instead asked to, on the computer, go to Brave > Sync and choose “Enter a Sync Chain Code”.


Expected result:
The instructions on either the mobile device or the imac should be actionable.
