Description of the issue:
I currently can not access my online banking website because Brave complains that the certificate is not valid. It worked flawlessly before Christmas but when I tried it today it stopped working. When dealing with money I’m very cautious becaus I know that a lot of fraud happening there.
When I try to access the website with Brave on my Android it works perfectly fine. Also Chrome on Windows works. But Brave says the the certificate is not valid.
Can I trust the certificate? In older topics they suggest to “just install” the certificate but this seems for me like a hack and not a real solution. Especially when dealing with online banking I don’t want to do anything custom because you never know what security problems you create with your custom workarounds.
What bothers me, and makes me think it’s maybe a issue only on my machine, is that the certificate gets good ratings when you put it into some testing services like the following:
https://www.ssllabs.com/ssltest/analyze.html?d=mein.elba.hypo.at&hideResults=on
The issue happens for:
- mein.elba.hypo.at/
- sso.hypo.at/mein-login/
I also followed the suggestions mentioned here:
But as described above I want to avoid installing a certificate manually.
I use the following Brave version:
Version 1.47.186 Chromium: 109.0.5414.119 (Offizieller Build) (64-Bit)
on Windows 11 Home 10.0.2200 Build 2200 with Avast Free Antivirus 22.3.6008 Build 22.3.7108.725
How can this issue be reproduced?
- access https://mein.elba.hypo.at/ or https://sso.hypo.at/mein-login/ with the above mentioned setup
- see that Brave does not accept the certificate
Expected result:
Since the certificate is working on other browsers and machines and also get good ratings from services checking the certificate, I would assume that it should also work on the specific setup I described above.
