Description of the issue:
The keyboard shortcut “Toggle vertical tabs expanded” is not doing what it’s intended to do. I assume it does the same as pressing this button on the top left of the vertical tab bar:
Update: Found out it’s only broken when “Expand vertical tabs independently per window” is enabled.
How can this issue be reproduced?
Open brave
Enable vertical tab bar
Specify a keyboard shortcut in brave settings (brave://settings/system/shortcuts) for Toggle vertical tabs expanded
Press that short cut
Notice it’s not working
Expected result:
The shortcut does exactly what pressing this button does:
Brave Version( check About Brave):
Version 1.74.51 Chromium: 132.0.6834.160 (Official Build) (arm64)
Additional Information:
I checked the other 2 shortcuts related to “vertical tab bar”, they work.
I found this in a search for the keyboard shortcut for vertical tabs – I hope a fix for this gets shipped soon too.
To make the request more textually explicit, in Settings:
When ::Tabs > Use vertical tabs is enabled,
and when ::Tabs>(Use vertical tabs)>Expand vertical tabs independently per window is enabled,
then, when ::System > Shortcuts >> Toggle vertical tabs expanded is invoked, it should act as if the “Expand tabs” button on the foreground window were clicked, and expand just that vertical tab bar.
Note, #2) the “Keyboard Shortcuts” (under Extensions section) versus “Shortcuts” under System section of settings is also confusing. #3) It would be cool if mouseover in settings for internal links showed the setting URL that would load, as with web links on rendered web pages.
