Random loud music plays from invisible ads

I have a new issue with Brave browser for PC. On all my tabs, except very few, I have shields up always. It seems that some new kind of ad sneaks through the shields on YouTube and occasionally it plays a random ad at extremely loud volume out of nowhere. This morning at 7 am it was a loud Hindi ad that sounded like a music video or something and I had to run into my office to mute the computer until I found the tab that was doing it. There was no popup or pop out or anything I could identify to close and it just vanished. The video I had paused was not playing on the open YouTube tab either. It was just loud music. Sometimes it sounds like a loud radio cycling through radio stations, but really loud. Louder than my volume is set at. Can you please look into this and fix it? Brave used to be really good about stopping all ads but now this new pesky issue is interrupting everything from work to my sleep… HELP!!!

Hello @jackiebean

Thank you for reaching us and I’m sorry to hear you are going through this. Could you please share the following information:

1 - What kind of device and OS do you have?
2 - Have you updated to the latest Brave version?

If this a desktop computer (found at brave://version) to download the most recent one (https://brave.com/download/)

3 - A screenshot of the issue.

Be waiting for your response!

Yes I stated in the first sentence it was Brave on Desktop PC.

But to clarify that, It’s on windows 10 and fully updated. I still have to mute tabs that randomly play music when they have no ad visible.

There is no way to screenshot sound. Sorry. And I cannot act quickly enough to record the sound that plays when it happens. What I do is see the tab that has the speaker icon and switch to that, and it goes away, but if it’s a tab I don’t need sound on, I just mute the tab anyway even if the music stops when I switch to that tab.

It’s very loud. it seems to defy all my volume settings and blast it as loud as possible. I think this made the neighbor move away. And I am not joking about that. Although I have not had any complaints about it yet, I can only imagine.

It seems to happen more frequently at night or in the afternoon.

The guilty site is YouTube. I have looked all over the page for a popup or pop-out or something that needs to be closed and there is nothing there. Apparently YouTube has figured out how to bypass the Brave adblocker with audio that I cannot shut off unless I mute the site. Please fix this!.

That’s all I can give you.
