New tab automatically selects all text I enter after a split second

Description of the issue:
Whenever I open a new tab and begin typing, the text I type is automatically selected after a split second. This means that usually, the first character or two I type are swallowed up, meaning that, say, if I type “goo” and enter, expecting it to autofill “google,” it will delete either the “g” or the “go” and go to whatever site autofills “o” or “oo,” which is not what I want. This is an experience-breaking bug for me, and one of the main reasons I prefer Chrome to Edge (which I’d use for certain reasons otherwise) is because the same bug appears on the latter. Help greatly appreciated!
