Graphical Glitches/Videos Stalling

Hi Brave Community,

I’m experiencing some unusual performance issues with the Brave Browser and could use some help. I originally posted in the “Uncategorized” section, but I’m reposting this here to follow the guidelines and hopefully get more visibility.

  1. Graphical Glitches
    I’m noticing strange graphical glitches appearing randomly in different parts of the browser. These can show up as flickering, distorted visuals, or odd overlays when navigating between tabs or pages.

  2. YouTube Playback Problem
    When I try to play YouTube videos, the play icon just spins for several seconds and the video doesn’t start immediately. Meanwhile, the exact same video plays instantly with no stutter or lag on Opera or other browsers.

  3. General Performance Issues
    Beyond YouTube, I’ve observed other random slowdowns and inconsistent performance across websites. Scrolling can be choppy at times, and switching tabs feels less responsive than expected.

Troubleshooting Steps I’ve Already Taken:

  • Cleared browser history and cache
  • Reset Brave settings to default
  • Ensured hardware acceleration is both enabled/disabled in separate tests
  • Checked for the latest browser version and updated
  • Verified that my system drivers (especially GPU) are up to date

Despite these steps, the issues persist.

System Info:

  • OS: Windows 11 Home x64
  • GPU: AMD 7700xt
  • Brave Version: 1.78.102 Chromium: 136.0.7103.113 (Official Build) (64-bit)
  • No Extensions Installed

Thank you for the detailed report – really helps us out a lot. That said it is strange that you’re still getting these performance issues. Can I ask you to try downloading and running the Beta build of the browser and see if it behaves the same way?
