Fullscreening videos locks browser to fullscreen mode

Whenever I full screen any video or “fullscreenable” thing in Brave, it auto puts my browser in full screen mode, which I do not like. I want to be able full screen a video and then press escape and not be in full screen mode (so I can access my other tabs). This is especially annoying in Youtube, X (formerly twitter), twitch, and even Canvas of all websites.
This can be reproduced by simply opening up a youtube video and pressing f or clicking the full screen button. This will put the video in full screen like I want, but as soon as I click off to exit full screen, the browser is in full screen mode. I then have to click the X at the top or press F11 to then unlock the window from full screen mode and resize it to the correct size.

  1. open youtube/twitter/twitch
  2. Press F/Full screen button
  3. Press F/esc to exit and page is now on full screen mode

I want to be able to click esc or the full screen button again and it will not have my browser in full screen mode.

The same is happening with me.
Did you find a solution to this?

You must have some extension that is triggering the f11 full screen after pressing esc. I had a volume booster extension installed on my browser that cause this.
I removed it and this issue was fixed.

Came here to say the same thing @BisleriBaba did – it is likely that there is an extension installed preventing this shortcut from working properly.
