Can't activate VPN, indefinite loading bar

Type of device (iPad pro, iPhone 10, etc): iPhone 12

iOS version ( Settings --> About --> Software Version ): 16.1.1

Detailed description of the behavior:

I’ve bought Brave VPN and have it enabled on my desktop. On my phone when I try to login to my Brave account however I only get to see the loading-triangle indefinitely.

When I click on the VPN button my phone I just get up the popup telling me to get a subscription, but like I said before I already have one.
