can i create bats backup?

Hello

I have access to E:\Users\1P\AppData\Local\BraveSoftware
i can endorse the bats
or they are lost.
Thank you.

Hi and welcome. :slightly_smiling_face: I am a community member too, just trying to help.

Did you find the information you needed to restore your Brave-Browser folder? If not, I have posted links below that will help. Simply put, since you have a backup, you should be able to restore that folder and get the BAT you previously had. However, any BAT you have accumulated since that point in time will be lost. If you had a large amount of BAT accumulated previously, you may want to restore.

If you have this:

You can do this (read the moderator comments):

@CerealLover Thanks for the addition! Love the image.

One comment, although backing up the User Data folder works in most instances, there are sometimes issues (rare cases, I think). Brave support posts on reddit and here are wishy-washy between backing up just the User Data folder vs backing up the entire Brave-Browser folder.

I would do both just in case. If I had to choose just one, I would back up the Brave-Browser folder. The User Data folder is under that, so could always use just that. BUT if you are one of those “rare cases”, you have the entire Brave-Browser folder to use if needed.

P.S. I’m going to use your image in the User Solutions topic (thank-you again!). Probably add a note about backing up the entire Brave-Browser folder… :stuck_out_tongue:

I just saw on Brave nightly that you can now backup Brave BATs in case your hard drive fails, etc
This is a hug and wonderful implementation that will surely help us out.

Next we just need linking limits gone!

Very happy I stuck with Brave because I was ready to roll as I kept getting flagged, etc, but Brave has been great about un-flagging me, and I am finally getting my BATs.

@CerealLover

You might want to update your illustration . . . so that the Brave-Browser folder (parent for the ‘User Data’ folder) is backed up.

Re what @Saoiray reported from a recent Brave call:

In the meantime, users facing a situation in which they have no custodial option and need to back up their current vBAT can manually copy-paste/back up their /brave-browser folder (at least on desktop), which will contain their vBAT at the time of manual backup.
