Bug - Password Manager Popping Up For Non-Password Fields

Hi everyone!

Just switched over to Brave this month and absolutely love it as a product. Ran into my first bug today and wanted to submit a report to the community.

Description of the issue:

I’m taking an online coding course through Vertabelo Academy and every time I progress to the next exercise, Brave’s password manager keeps popping up. This was driving me nuts, and I managed to prevent it from occurring by removing this site from Brave’s password manager and turning off password manager entirely.

While I have a dedicated password manager (lastpass), I’ve noticed that its extension doesn’t always work great with Brave, so it’s handy to just have Brave remember passwords for non-essential sites.

Steps to Reproduce (add as many as necessary): 1. 2. 3.

  1. Launch Brave
  2. Go to Vertabelo coding exercise
  3. Password manager prompt appears despite there not being a password field.

Actual Result (gifs and screenshots are welcome!):
brave%20bug

Expected result:
Password manager prompt does not appear.

Reproduces how often:
Every time I got to another page or reload.

Operating System and Brave Version(See the About Brave page in the main menu):
OS: Windows 10, Version 10.0.17134 Build 17134
Brave Version: Version 0.62.51 Chromium: 73.0.3683.103 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Additional Information:
I have not tried this with other coding education sites, so that is potentially a next step to further investigate. My suspicion is that the password manager is for some reason incorrectly flagging these fields for enter code as password fields.

This also happens to me in Bitchute.com

This is a known bug and they are working on a fix. The fix may show up in the next release. For further complains @Mattches @rebron2000
