Browser (Mac) won't go back to light mode

When using Brave ( V1.19.90, on Mac, M1, Big Sur, 11.2) it does not seem to be recognizing the theme light / dark setting. No matter the setting (light / dark / follow mac) it will always stay in dark mode. My Mac is in light mode and I have this problem with no other apps.

  • removed cookies
  • uninstalled and reinstalled
  • tried all versions of setting mode

Thoughts?

FYI, deleted preferences file which didn’t help, but when I reset all settings for the browser that reset it back to light mode.
