Recent versions of Brave come with an extremely annoying bug: blocking “unverified” downloads.
First, you don’t understand why files aren’t appearing in the filesystem. Then you see messages like “Couldn’t finish download” or “Failed - File incomplete,” which are misleading.
To figure out what’s happening, you must try to “Resume” the download. Then, you briefly see the message “Unverified download blocked” for 2-3 seconds before it disappears.
You might think, “I’ll just turn off all protection (which shouldn’t be necessary, especially if the site is your server’s IPMI), and this will go away.” Wrong! Now you get an even more frustrating message: “Brave blocked this download because you turned Safe Browsing off and the file can’t be verified.”
You try searching the settings to disable “verification” completely, only to find that it’s impossible.
By the way, the terms “verify” and “verification” are misleading because the browser can’t truly “verify” any content; it just refuses to download anything over HTTP.
I vote for the complete removal of this unprofessional feature from the Brave browser.
