Brave VPN Connection keeps asking for authentication


Description of the issue:

Things were working fine, then suddenly I got a pop-up asking for authentication.
How can this issue be reproduced?

Expected result:
Secure connection

Brave Version( check About Brave):
1.7.118

Additional Information:
I cannot update because I cannot connect!
I run Brave on my Mac Studio with the Apple M2 Max chip, Sequoia 15.0.1 OS.

I’ve tried manually disconnecting the VPN in System Settings, but any time I try to connect to the Internet, I get that pop-up: “VPN Connection
Please enter your authentication information.
Password”
I’ve tried using the password I use for the Community (as far as I know that is the only Brave password I’ve got!), but that doesn’t work. I’ve shut down my computer, the started it, but still get the same.
I’ve tried releasing the DHCP lease, but no joy.
I’ve checked the Ethernet cable, and that is good, and says it’s connected.
Why all of a sudden am I getting that pop-up? I’ve got work to do, and can’t because I can’t connect my desktop to the 'Net. My laptop is too small for me to do what needs to be done. :frowning:

I had a somewhat similar issue on my Windows PC awhile ago, obviously things are different for you but maybe there could be a similarity, have you tried completely uninstalling any VPN software that might be messing with your connection to the internet? I’d suggest that you remove any app that has a VPN connected to it, restart and see if that helps at all… sorry if you already tried, figured I’d throw it out there anyway

I sympathize anyway… nothing more frustrating than not being able to connect to the internet and use your devices as you should be able to

Glad I’m not the only one with that issue!

So, I deleted Brave from my computer, then reinstalled, and now things work! Easy peasy, but why did it happen in the first place?

Hello! If you experience this issue again, please make sure Reconnect Automatically is disabled and you should no longer experience it.
