Brave randomly freezes after downloading a file – hard reset needed

Description of the issue:
Every now and then (maybe every tenth file or so), Brave freezes completely after the download is completed. It can’t be closed with CMD+Q, and it used to be possible to quit it with Force Quit – not anymore though. The browser window is gone, but it still shows up in the Force Quit window. There is no running Brave process in Activity Monitor. Starting Brave again is impossible (because it’s still “running”). Restarting the Mac is impossible (because Brave is still “running”). Only solution is to kill the power.

How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. Download a file
  2. Brave freezes
  3. If no result, start again from 1

Expected result:
No Freeze

Version 1.5.112 Chromium: 80.0.3987.132 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Quick update to this: I reinstalled Brave this morning after the last freeze and reset and just experienced another one. However, this time, Brave can actually be restarted. I’ll update this thread with more info should anything else transpire.
