Whenever I download a file of any type or size, there seems to be a > 50% chance that Brave will become unresponsive and I have to “force quit” the process. It’s not consistent, but it’s made the browser practically unusable at this point; before any download, I have to make sure I don’t have any precious tabs open.
Recently, I’m getting the feeling that the probability of freezing upon download is increasing the longer it’s been since the last system reboot, but I don’t know how to concretely test this.
I found a few posts of similar behavior, but none have actually been resolved.
How can this issue be reproduced?

Expected result: browser continues operating as usual.
Actual result: browser becomes unresponsive, with probability > 0.5
