Downloading causes Brave to become unresponsive

Description of the issue:
How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. Dowload any file
  2. Try to use the menu - nothing responds
  3. Try to use buttons - nothing responds
  4. Force quit Brave
  5. Reopen Brave and restore pages.
  6. Rinse and repeat.

Note: Brave itself does not crash. It just becomes unresponsive. I have seen this happen once with another application on my Mac. This is mostly the sequence I get when downloading or saving a web page. Sometimes it works was expected.

Expected result:

I expect Brave to be usable after downloading a file.

Brave is up to date

Version 1.66.110 Chromium: 125.0.6422.60 (Official Build) (x86_64)

Additional Information:

It’s so bad I no longer use Brave to download files on a Mac - or just get resigned to force quitting it after downloading the files - or use another browser to download files.

Any ideas/pointers?
