When I open brave, which by default goes to a bunch of saved tabs that I have, it crashes with “Brave Browser has stopped working” with the only option to close program. I am able to open a new window with no tabs as well as private window mode. But I really want my tabs! I have deleted all extensions, however there was one extension that took several attempts to delete: AIPRM for chatgpt
I suspect that that one extension is the culprit, however it appears to be deleted now. One of the tabs IS chatgpt, so perhaps if there was a way to close just that tab then maybe brave won’t crash upon startup and i can go on using the rest of my tabs as usual?
How can this issue be reproduced?
- Any time I “restore pages”
- Including run as administrator
- The first time it happened i don’t think i needed to click “restore pages”, but it did crash upon opening
**Expected result: to be able to open brave and use tabs as usual
**Brave Version( check About Brave
): This computer is using Windows 8.1. Learn more
Version 1.47.186 Chromium: 109.0.5414.119 (Official Build) (64-bit)
**Additional Information: My thinking is that the chatgpt tab that is still open is trying to connect with the extension that was deleted… so my thinking is if there is a way to delete individual tab by editing some appdata files, that might do the trick
also I have tried clearing browsing data, same result
i also tried “repair” in the extensions for the one in question before i was able to delete it. I was thinking to try reinstalling it from here, however i found a new way to get the same error: when i navigate to that apps website it also causes brave to crash (i was using a new window - it also crashes when going to the website with a private window)
