Brave crashes on launch

Description of the issue:
Random crash on launch of Brave

Steps to Reproduce (add as many as necessary): 1. 2. 3.
Don’t know

Actual Result (gifs and screenshots are welcome!):
Don’t have any cause it’s random

Expected result:
Not crashing? Oo

Reproduces how often:
I think the first time after my PC opens.

Operating System and Brave Version(See the About Brave page in the main menu):
Windows 10 Pro x64 / Brave Version 0.65.121 Chromium: 75.0.3770.100 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Additional Information:
Once i click the icon for Brave to launch. The browser opens for 3-5 seconds correctly i can even scroll inside the last opened tab and then crashes to desktop without any error.

I have the EXACT same issue. Multiple uninstalling attempts etc etc. Never experienced an issue before today.

I am having the same issue. It doesn’t always crash, seems like about 50% or so, and I haven’t rebooted my machine before it happened, so that’s not tied to it for me.

I’m on Windows 7 Pro, and Brave is

Version 0.66.101 Chromium: 75.0.3770.142 (Official Build) (64-bit)

  • Does anyone here have any extensions installed?
  • Connected through a VPN of any kind?
  • Are you able to launch Brave in a Private browsing window?
  • Are you using/have the device you’re on when you encounter this issue added to a Sync chain/sync enabled?

Just the defaults, so Webtorrents and Hangouts are on. I don’t use either so I can disable them.

Done.

First - my problem seems to be about very roughly 20% of the time, so it may be a while before I can tell if it’s solved.

Second - in the solution

Settings -> Advanced -> System…

should now be

Additional Settings -> System…

Thank you for the correction – the issue was present before we had our change in UI/design so not every thread accurately reflects settings (w/ respect to aesthetics anyway). Let me know what you find out.

OK, I can verify that did not fix the problem.

Started Brave.

Outline of the page came up for a fraction of a second. No page content, no tabs, then closed.

Opened it again and it came right up with no tabs but otherwise ready to use.

When typing URLs it still remembered them though. Like the other guy said, recoverable, but a pain in the butt.
