Brave Crashing on Launch

Description of the issue: Brave crashing immediately on launch
How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. Launching again

Expected result: browser successfully launching

Brave Version( check About Brave): 1.67.116 Chromium: 126.0.6478.71 (Official Build)(64-bit)

Additional Information:

  1. I attempted troubleshooting steps in these threads (Link1, Link2) and, while I was able to launch on a test profile, I still couldn’t launch on my main profile.

  2. I tried removing all extensions one by one, which also failed to produce results.

  3. Crash report ID: 32391600-37ee-1f0c-0000-000000000000

  4. Test profile launches fine, though I don’t have any of my favorites, tabs, etc. (expected)

If I’ve missed anything here that would help resolve the issue, please let me know!

I followed your instructions about cutting and pasting Extensions before attempting to launch the crashing profile, but unfortunately it still crashed.

What would you recommend trying next?

You turned off Wi-Fi during the Process ?

Yes, throughout the entire process.

You’ll see that after turning off wi-fi, cutting and pasting the extensions file, attempting to launch the default profile doesn’t work.

The folder from where you cut Extensions and moved was Default folder, Try looking for folders profile 1, profile 2

You have 144 background processes running, disable all apps at startup using task manager, Restart PC and then try this method

The crash can be caused by other programs and may not be with the browser itself.

You can also try creating new profile and see if it works… Also try unchecking “show at startup”.

The second profile (created as part of troubleshooting this issue) does work, but I have no access to the favorites and such of profile 1 (AKA Default).

I disabled the startup apps and restarted, but profile 1 still doesn’t launch.

Do you have Antivirus ? Also, Did you turn off Wi-Fi before Launching brave(after Restart of PC)?

Can you see prefs file in your Default profile ? If yes, What is the size ?
