due to ‘irregular activity’. I don’t know to this day the reason why my rewards profile continues to be “Flagged”. Brave replied that it will continue like this (see screenshot 2)
implying that I commit irregular activities that would be considered unusual compared to an ordinary person. It sounds like a joke, but it’s true. I have never committed any infraction, nor have I used a VPN, and I have not tried to become a millionaire with Brave’s BAT.
What’s new this year is that my balance shows 0,000 BAT (see screenshot 3)
even though my Uphold account contains the full amount I earned up to two years ago. As for the ads, I continue to receive them—around 180 a month (see screenshot 4)
@Cure in the simplest and most direct (which can appear rude, but not meant to be) words: You are permanently banned from Rewards.
They’ll let you view ads to support Brave, but you’ll never get anything for it. As you shared, it said your account won’t be reinstated. This is linked to your Uphold. So it doesn’t matter what browser profile or device you link, you won’t ever be paid again.
They basically are saying you abused the system and was blocked. Your account privileges were rescinded and you get nothing. All BAT you already have/had in Uphold is yours, but you get nothing else. You are owed nothing.
To reiterate on this, that’s correct. They’ll let you continue to view them all you want. When flagged (suspended/banned), they just don’t let you earn for seeing it. You can disable the ads and never view them or you can leave it on and view them. Either way, you get nothing for it.
You tagged in Evan and they’ll see things. Never can tell if they’ll give a second look or tell you to create another ticket, but generally the message you shared in your post is the one they give for a final decision.
Reminder:
I don’t work for Brave. I’m just another user who is active here and helps on my own time. So I’m limited on what I can do. My phrasing of everything obviously is not like that of a customer service person right now. But I figured I’d just be bluntly honest with you about the situation.
And if you want to ask or argue about why you were flagged or that you did nothing wrong, unfortunately that’s not something Brave ever entertains. They don’t answer specifics of what people do wrong and don’t debate it. They just generally review the logs from their servers and make a decision. Once a decision is made, there’s nothing more to be said or done overall.
@Saoiray, I appreciate your attention to my topic, even though you’re not a formal BRAVE employee. To be honest, I agree with almost everything you say. Thus, Brave will never detail the “irregular activity” I supposedly committed, nor will it change its established rules and processes because its decisions are infallible, and the only fallible thing is the user. “The customer is always right” was said in the past in my country. Today, it sounds so distant, alien, and even impertinent. When is a user a customer? Well, that is for another topic.
Great news: I’m eligible to receive payouts again!
Many thanks to @Saoiray support and special thanks to the Brave Team for declaring me eligible to receive future payouts.
I feel happy
@Cure, that’s rare. Just so you know, the part that concerns me is that I’ve seen similar cases before. People were told their account wouldn’t be reinstated, but after submitting a new ticket, they got a response saying they were eligible for earnings again. In other words, their account was reinstated. However, when the next payouts came around, they received nothing. The system ended up flagging their profile again just days after reinstatement.
Hopefully that won’t happen to you, but it’s something to be aware of. If you’ve already been flagged and told your account wouldn’t be reinstated, there’s probably a higher risk of the antifraud system flagging you again compared to others. That risk is even greater if whatever triggered it in the first place hasn’t changed. They won’t tell you what it was, so if all your behavior remains the same, it makes sense the system could flag you again.
Here are a two tips I usually share with others to help reduce (but doesn’t eliminate) the chances of getting flagged:
If you use a VPN, set it to your home country. Ads are based on your IP address. The Terms of Service clearly state we’re not allowed to try to view ads from other countries. If your IP changes frequently to a country other than your own, the system might see it as suspicious activity and assume you’re trying to bypass regional limits.
Avoid chasing ads. Some users try to open extra tabs or change their browsing habits to increase earnings. Brave is meant to be used normally, and that alone will trigger plenty of ads. If you’re constantly trying to game the system through the New Tab Page, Brave News, or other methods, it can come off as unusual activity. You might even be flagged as a bot. On top of that, you’ll likely just end up seeing a bunch of House Ads that don’t pay anything when you chase ads too much. ( I am not chasing ads but around 50% of all I’m seeing are House Ads lately…)
Anyway, hoping not an issue and none of that will matter. But wanted to share so it doesn’t catch you off guard if you do have any issues again.
