All saved groups have disappeared!

But the question is, why did the Saved Groups disappeared, regardless of whether they might show up in the History tab? Is that normal?

You can see that I am not the only person affected.

Mine are gone too, really sucks. Ya, sure the history is there from a long time ago as I constructed the saved group tabs, but there is no way I’ve found to recreate the group tabs, I wouldn’t even know what to look for in the history of tabs, there are hundreds of thousands of tabs. This sucks!

I recently updated to Brave Version 1.69.162 Chromium: 128.0.6613.120 (Official Build) (64-bit) and encountered the same problem. What fixed it for me was enabling a few options in brave://flags

Just upgraded to Version 1.69.168 Chromium: 128.0.6613.138 (Official Build) (64-bit) running on Ubuntu 24.04, and all my tab groups are gone as well.

Can someone please tell me where this data is typically stored, as I think this is pretty much the end of the line for me when it comes to using Brave as my daily driver: I’ve had so many instances of lost tabs or broken syncs between machines, etc., that using Brave is no longer worthwhile in a professional context.

Update: And magically, just a few minutes later after posting this, my saved groups have populated again in the bookmark bar. The only thing now is the extra PC device. I’ll wait a few days and see if everything stays as is, then I’ll delete the phantom device.

I’m going to post my comment from another thread talking about this issue, in hopes something gets fixed.

I have the same issue. Just noticed it today. All my saved Tab Groups are gone, which I needed… And when I look at Sync, magically there’s another device with my device’s name (PC). Weirdly, the “other device’s” last Sync date is Aug 31, 2024 which can’t even be true because I checked my Sync a few days ago by chance, and it was just my phone and my PC. To clarify, now it’s my phone, my PC (This device), and my PC again.

There must be a way to “consolidate” two devices with the same name together, because I’d bet my save groups are with that “other device” now.

Actually, I remember I had multiple duplicates of my computer right when my groups disappeared. I had to delete them manually.

I know Brave were aware of this duplicate devices. Could this have been the issue, @Mattches?

It is very hard to tell what is going on here, as everyone seems to have a different experience with this issue. It seems like Sync may be involved here — can anyone here confirm for me

1. Whether or not since this issue initially occurred, they’ve been able to use saved tab groups normally again?
2. When this issue occured, were you using Brave Sync?

Yes, I have been able to save groups again, but haven’t recreated all as I am worried they are going to disappear again.

Yes. And I noticed duplicate instances of my laptop (MacBook)

I had the same exact thing happen to me, they magically reappeared, sadly, they disappeared the next time i opened brave…

In my case, they never reappeared. I had to create new ones.

I got lucky and thought about bookmarking all the important links, sadly, i didnt do it with the other ones…
