Access to microphone on Google Hangouts

Description of the issue:

There is no audio when I try to use Google Hangouts using Brave.

Steps to Reproduce (add as many as necessary): 1. 2. 3.
I make sure that the application has access to both the built-in camera and microphone by making the appropriate selections under settings.

Actual Result (gifs and screenshots are welcome!):
The camera works, so I can see the image of the person with whom I am communicating using Google Hangouts, but the person with whom I am trying to communicate cannot hear me. I can hear the person, even though he cannot hear me. I have not had this problem with other browsers.

Expected result:

I expect to be heard as well as seen when using Brave to access Google Hangouts.

Reproduces how often:

I have tried repeatedly.

Operating System and Brave Version(See the About Brave page in the main menu):
I am using an iMac (21.5-inch, Mid 2011) with a 2.8 GHz Intel Core i7 processor running on MacOS High Sierra Version 10.13.6 (17G6030) and Brave Version 0.63.55 Chromium: 74.0.3729.131 (Official Build) (64-bit).

I do not experience this problem using a MacBook Air (13-inch, Early 2014) with a 1.7 GHz Intel Core i7 processor running MacOS Mojave Version 10.14.4 using Brave Version 0.63.55 Chromium: 74.0.3729.131 (Official Build) (64-bit).

Hi, @olopez1.

Update edit: Maybe try this from @Mattches first:

Resume original post:
I’m not running the same versions as you (macOS Mojave 10.14.4 on slightly newer Air 13, Brave 0.67.2 Chromium: 74.0.3729.131 (Official Build) nightly (64-bit)), so my result may not be terribly valuable, but Hangouts gets my mic just fine. Since you also don’t have trouble with your Mojave, this suggests it could be an OS problem. Either way, you say you made sure Hangouts had access to the mic and camera, but it’s not clear whether you confirmed they are both selected. It’s also not clear whether the person on the other end can see you. Couple things to check, though, that might help (you probably already did them, but just in case):

  1. The Sound Preferences of macOS itself to be sure the microphone you want to use is selected as input device and that its gain (Input volume) is turned up enough to pick your voice up (image of Mojave Sound panel, click image to embiggen).

  2. Hangouts Preferences once the call is going. The gear in upper right if clicked opens the settings/preferences for the call. Select input device if not already selected.

If that doesn’t do it, maybe try turning shields off for hangouts (click the lion icon in the address bar to call that up). Maybe someone who still has High Sierra on a Mac can try, too.

Thank you. The problem has been resolved.
