Description of the issue:
In recent days, I have been unable to log in to my bank accounts with Navy Federal Credit Union. I recieve the following message.
“You don’t have permission to access “/siteminderagent/forms/mfa.fcc” on this server.
0.e7657468.1728052478.88d2022”
Speaking to a representative at Navy Federal I am told that the browser I am using does not comply with the security standards of Navy Federal. I do not know why this just started happening, but thought maybe someone at Brave could talk with someone at Navy Federal and resolve this issue. I do not want to go to a different browser, but must have access to my bank account.
Does the site function as expected when Shields are turned off?
no Is there a specific Shields configuration that causes the site to break? If so, tell us that configuration. (yes/no):
no Does the site work as expected when using Chrome?
yes Brave version (check About Brave): 1.70.123
@kwlnwv to be clear, you’re saying the issue only happens once you input your information and try to login to your account, right?
You did post that things don’t seem to work even with Shields off. But now I’d also have to ask you to test if it happen in either:
Private window
New browser profile to serve as a secondary test profile. That’s the hamburger menu → More Tools → Add new profile
Check to see if it happens at Brave Beta or Brave Nightly
Explanation of why steps above:
Private window starts a new session with no cookies and any extensions disabled by default.
The second browser profile would be something with the majority of your settings to default, including no cookies and no extensions installed.
Beta and Release just check to see if it might be an issue with the Release version of Brave or if it continues despite changes made in Chromium base or in Brave itself in upcoming versions that are currently in testing and development.
From my understanding, this is essentially saying issue is you’re not getting authentication needed. Basically a firewall/vpn is blocking or something is preventing cookies. It could also be cookies it is trying to use has expired.
Thanks for testing. Makes it seem to be either something changed in chromium or within Brave perhaps, unless you’ve changed something in brave://flags or have some custom content filters you’ve used.
That said, let me tag in @Mattches and @fanboynz to see if either might be able to follow up with more details. Do note that with it being Friday at the moment, it may not be until next week that we hear back from them.
I do not know enough to be changing things in Brave://flags, besides never having gone to that. I don’t know anything about any custom filters. Thank you! It will take what time it takes. I can still access the bank on my phone.
I know someone in upper management at Navy Federal, and just texted him the link to this conversation. He is looking into it and will get back to me. I’ll try to relay what info is shared asap.
