Sync v2 was rebuilt over several months to be more directly compatible with the Chromium sync system. Sync v2 supports more sync data types, while still keeping the client side data encrypted, so only users can see their data.
Users will be able to sync multiple different data types across their devices:
Bookmarks
Passwords
Autofill Data
History
Open Tabs
Extensions
Themes
Apps
When reporting issues on Sync, please ensure you follow the template outlined in the editor when you go to create your topic. This ensures support can diagnose and resolve your issue as soon as possible.
Please check our Help Center content on Sync v2 for instructions on how to set up Sync and answers to common questions:
The OS sync does not work. Ive tried several times to sync my iMac to my Macbook with the code. Every time I go back to the iMac to check the sync, my Macbook has the code offered but the code has changed on the iMac and the the Macbook is not registered in the chain. What is going on? Where is direct support for this?
Every couple of months I come back to the community to see if I can solve my sync issue. Never. I wish someone from support could be contacted to walk me through this. I’ve tried every “fix” on here and nothing works. Very frustrating to have inconsistent passwords, history, etc across multiple devices.
i tried to use my windows laptop to sync with my iphone and ipad all on to brave browser but unable to do so. it seems like i can only sync one other device through the laptop. unable to find the button to sync in ipad or iphone. i wish brave will make it work easily or else it really sucks using brave
How do I tell which version of sync I’m using? I didn’t realize there was a v1 and a v2…which may be why my bookmarks aren’t available between desktop (linux/*buntu) and mobile (iOS).
Do I need to remove things from my sync chain and re-add them for bookmarks etc to be available between machines/brave instances?
This is a good question without an answer. I also need to know what version I have and if I can sync. I have Opensuse Tumbleweed (Linux, Brave version 1.46.144), Nothing Phone (Android, Brave version 1.46.146) and Samsung TAB (Android, Brave version 1.46.146) and want to be able to sync between the devices.
It doesn’t work and neither my iPhone nor my Windows PC versions of Brave settings look anything like what’s presented in Brave’s help documents. Ridiculous.
Why the devs decided to overengineer a basic system with terms a normal user doesn’t even understand is beyond me. Brave will never make it big with a poor sync system like this. Especially in a day and age where people use multiple devices on a daily basis.
