One thing that would help is giving us more freedom in how the brave shields work then just an "On or “Off” button - all or nothing approach. I’d be perfectly willing to let YT play a few ads as long as I can keep the privacy shields up, if I absolutely had to. The creators do get some money for that, after all, and as a YT creator, though not monetized, those paid views would help once I am monetized there.
For those who are getting the nasty pop up, it appears that deleting cookies/website data for YouTube.com will reset things for a while. I think the view count is retained locally and clearing this gives you a fresh slate.
Opening videos in a private tab achieves the same thing, but then you lose the ability to like and comment.
Clearing all cookies logs you out of websites, but if you clear only the cookies for YouTube.com you’ll be logged out of YT but your Google login will remain active and clicking “sign in” will log you back in if you want to access your subscriptions, like and comment etc.
I’ll post more as I collect more data on this.
