YouTube adblocked stopped working today (2024/07/31)

Been using Brave for years, no changes made. YouTube ads started playing today and this is the first time I’ve seen an ad since starting to use Brave. It seems to only give me ads when I’m logged into my Google account. If logged out then adblock seems to work. I’m on updated Windows 10, using Brave Version 1.68.134 Chromium: 127.0.6533.88 (Official Build) (64-bit)

I tried to upload the log file but it won’t let me upload files as a new user.

Yes aware of the issue, investigating

I’m facing the same problem: ads on YouTube while I’m logged into my account.

Same here. I managed to beat YouTube’s efforts back when they were first really amping up their offense on blockers months ago and have been more or less ad free until just today. Tried all the usual tips to fix the issue again, but to no avail this time unfortunately. Could this be the dreaded server-side injections they’ve been rumored to be rolling out?

seems to be working properly for me on android. I don’t log in to any google service from my pc.

Need some testers; @Sparrow_ATC @sVn27 @albobunyez @Motrax

I’ve just implemented the above custom filter on desktop and it appears to be working. I am logged into my Google/Youtube account and the ads are not playing on videos that were buried under ads earlier today.

Just implemented your suggested custom filter. Seems to be working, thanks.

I implemented the test filters provided and they seem to work. I am logged into my Google account on Youtube and I am NOT getting ads like I was yesterday.

Is www.youtube.com##+js(set-trusted-types) needed? or is both rules?

I added the rules you provided, and it seems to work partially. The exceptions I am experiencing involve certain instances when opening a video page wherein the video itself is slow to load for whatever reason, initially displaying a frozen frame instead before eventually playing or unless I refresh.

Other times the video will load after a moment of void display, although I then notice that the yellow progression time bar which is associated with YT ads is temporarily visible sort of superimposed at the bottom of the player beneath the normal red time bar. It seems to not affect the playback of the video in any way though.

Alternative; test these instead: https://pastebin.com/raw/zai4YZFm

Mm, these appear to be performing much better. Granted I’ve only had a couple of minutes to test them, clicking through several different types of videos, but so far it seems to be a solid improvement. Now the only thing I notice is that sometimes the first frame or so of an ad will flash on screen for a split second before a video starts, but that is hardly anything to complain about.

Thank you very much for this! I will continue using this fix whilst keeping an eye on this topic over the next few days. If anything ends up breaking it, I will provide an update. Cheers!

Seems like im only getting ads when im logged in (on youtube)

Can you test these @Jake4 (remove each, add to brave://adblock) then save). Reload Youtube page once rules are saved. Don’t combine them either, will cause issues.

Same thing happened to me today. Unfortunately, tried the solution here and none of them worked for me. Has something changed again on 02 Aug? (it was working fine for me yesterday)

EDIT: Not sure if this is something new from YouTube, but what I have noticed is that the adverts still have the name of the video you want to watch on them. Is it possibly something they are doing to trick adblockers into thinking a video is playing as normal when in fact an advert is playing?

EDIT2: The solution that seems to work is if you are not logged in. If I am logged in it is constant adverts. When I log out there are no adverts.

Doesn’t work either.
